Great color with typicity. More aggressive and expressive nose than all other Pinots, strangely enough. Some spiciness with fresh green mint or Basil crossed with Provencal Bay leaf. I thought this odd so I cleaned my glass and went back to the wine again with same aromatic notes.  Nice comforting aroma but it might be the vintage! Edgy texture up front then a wash of warmth and mouth enveloping texture. Wait three seconds then a spike of cinnamon spiciness shows up. This wine has excellent glycerol extraction. Flavors are big and leaning toward the black end of the fruit flavor continuum such as black berries black plums.

90 points. Dark red. Pungent cherry cola, blackberry and mocha aromas, lifted by a peppery nuance. Juicy, smoke-accented dark berry and bitter cherry flavors slowly deepen and become sweeter in the midpalate, picking up a hint of pepper on the way. Nicely concentrated yet lithe, offering firm closing grip; silky tannins make a late, low-key appearance. – Josh Raynolds

robert_parker_new_logo68Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate Review,
April 2016

The 2013 Pinot Noir E is designed to be an “early drinker,” but despite that, it actually has quite a complex bouquet with brambly black fruit and briary aromas that are well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, soft and easy drinking with smudged red cherry fruit and strawberry, just a touch of piquancy on the finish. This is recommended at the price.  – Neal Martin

Tasting Team Note:

Cuvee E Pinot Noir 2013

Clean and clear typical color, not too red, not too dark. Forthcoming and ALL at once wine, a nice dankness, a peat mossy funk, pomegranate cranberry, vanilla, middle offers up earthiness, a bit wavy on the finish, more of a friendly “bite” to let you know it was there. Color was pretty nice and clear. Nothing objectionable. Easy to drink wine.

Easy onset, light dancing on the tongue, smooth finish, pretty.

Pinker color, not a deep red, fruit forward, grabs you big up front, obvious or ramped up two seconds in, then smoothed out with cool finish. Berry. Raspberry.

Not muted, high toned cherries and black fruit, some dampness, Parmigiana-Reggiano cheese, wood is integrated well, texture is light and soft, good vibrant acidity Soft finish.
